NEW ORLEANS – Ochsner Blood Bank recently announced the dates and locations for its upcoming November blood donations.
Ochsner shared that its goal is to meet people where they are, so the following donation opportunities are throughout southeastern Louisiana. While all blood types are accepted, the blood bank is especially in need of platelets and Type O red cells.
While walk-ins are welcome, the organizers share appointments can be made online.
Blood donors must:
- Be at least 17-years-old and weigh at least 110 pounds.
- Be over cold or flu symptoms for 72 hours.
- Have had no dental work (including cleaning) in the past 72 hours.
- Have not donated whole blood in the last 8 weeks.
- Have had no transfusions for 3 months.
- Have not lived with a person who has had hepatitis in the past 3 months.
- Have had no tattoos in the past 3 months from a facility that is unlicensed or not regulated by a U.S. state.
