NEW ORLEANS — Lee Anderson and The Asher Institute of New Orleans has launched a $420,000 GoFundMe campaign to fund 100 full scholarships for students enrolling in its fast-track trade school programs and to provide urgent support for its free summer camp thats currently serving over 800 children across three New Orleans locations, including the Dryades YMCA.
The Asher Institute, known for helping students transition into high-paying careers in under 12 months, offers programs in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, and more. The goal is to provide access to career-based education for students who can’t afford traditional 4-year universities.
The school’s summer camp, which is currently underway, offers STEM enrichment, mentorship, daily meals, and career inspiration to youth in underserved areas. Without additional funding, the program may not continue through the summer.
The campaign seeks to raise:
- $300,000 for 100 partial scholarships ($3,200 per student)
- $40,000 for 800 youth camp meals
- $50,000 for teacher & staff operations
- $30,000 for facilities, supplies, and logistics
The Asher Institute NOLA is calling on community members, businesses, and city leaders to contribute, share the Go Fund Me campaign, and sponsor students.
