NEW ORLEANS – Margaret Orr, New Orleans personality and now author, will be at The Garden District Book Shop on Nov. 13 to celebrate the release of her book “Scrim My Tail: As Told to Margaret Orr,” a heartwarming story of survival, sass and finding out that, sometimes, the best adventures lead you home.
The event will begin at 6 p.m. Orr will be joined by her illustrator Matt Rinard. They will regale guests with the tale of Scrim and creating the book. Afterwards, they will be available to personalize copies of the book. The event is free and open to the public but interested parties are encouraged to RSVP and reserve a copy of Scrim My Tail ahead of time on Eventbrite.
ABOUT Scrim My Tail: As Told to Margaret Orr
In 2025, the Mystic Krewe of Barkus named Scrim–New Orleans’s most infamous canine escape artist–their grand marshal. In a dramatic leap from a second-story window triggered by a cat ambush, this seventeen-pound Westie mix bolted in April 2024. Surviving hurricanes, a blizzard, and two gunshot wounds while roaming fifty-seven square miles of the city, Scrim’s every move was tracked by a network of volunteers, surveillance cameras, and crowdsourced maps.
