NEW ORLEANS – This month, Loyola University New Orleans Women’s Resource Center celebrates Women’s History month with three events open to students, alumni and friends. This year’s events are designed with an eye toward empowering women. They include research talks, the university’s fifth annual feminist film festival presented with Women in Film, and a special panel talk, co-hosted with the College of Business and ThirtyNorth Investments, LLC, and focused on women succeeding in the world of finance.
“Every year, the Women’s Resource Center at Loyola University New Orleans celebrates women with a Feminist Festival in March,” said Dr. Patricia Boyett, director of the Women’s Resource Center. “This year, due to the pandemic, we have taken our cause online and opened it up to residents and friends of the Loyola community as a learning opportunity.”

Women’s History Month Research Talks, March 25, 12:30 p.m. – Sponsored by the Women’s Resource Center & Women’s Studies at Loyola.
Feminist Film Festival – March 18, 25 & April 1, 8, & 15 all at 7:00 p.m. – Sponsored by the WRC, Department of Languages & Culture & Tulane University New Orleans.
Women in Film’s Tournées Film Festival is a program which aims to bring French film to American colleges and university campuses. Its objective in providing grants every year is to fund festival endeavors that can eventually become permanent and self-sustaining. Founded in 1995, Tournées Film Festival has partnered with over 700 universities, reaching an audience of a half million students.
This year’s festival presents the following films: Portrait of a Lady on Fire, Tuesday, March 9 at 7 p.m., Joan of Arc, Thursday, March 18 at 7 p.m., Hyenas, Thursday, March 25 at 7 p.m., Sybil, Thursday, April 1, at 7 p.m., All Is Forgiven, Thursday, April 8 at 7 p.m., Varda, by Agnès, Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m.
This event is co-hosted by the Loyola French Club, the French section of the Languages and Cultures Department, and the Center for International Education. It is a part of the Feminist Film Festival and is sponsored by the Women’s Resource Center and School of Communication and Design at Loyola University, together with Newcomb Institute, Tulane University.
Women & Money: How We Succeeded in the World of Finance and How You Can Too panel, March 23, 6:30 p.m. – Sponsored by the WRC, College of Business, and ThirtyNorth Investments, LLC. Suzanne Mestayer, managing principal of ThirtyNorth Investments, LLC, has put together a panel of women, who are exceptionally successful in the male-dominated world of finance.
