NEW ORLEANS – The Trombone Shorty Foundation and the Gia Maione Prima Foundation present the annual “Tunes for Toys” Toy Drive and Concert, held at Tipitina’s on Thursday, Dec. 12. This tradition is a way for the New Orleans community to give back each holiday season. Experience a rockin’ night of live music from Trombone Shorty, Cuban powerhouse Cimafunk and his band La Tribu, and Trombone Shorty Academy. Doors open at 7 p.m., with live music kicking off with a bang at 8 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public (18+), in exchange for a new toy.
“We are filled with holiday cheer about bringing our annual Tunes for Toys concert to the greatest music venue in the world–Tipitina’s, ” said Bill Taylor, founding executive director of the Trombone Shorty Foundation. “And this year will be truly special with an Afro-Cuban funk celebration from our dear friends from Cuba, Cimafunk & La Tribu.”
The evening is made possible by a presenting sponsorship from the Gia Maione Prima Foundation.
“Tunes for Toys is a wonderful way to start off the holiday season and we are thrilled to continue supporting this great event” said Anthony J. Sylvester, trustee to the Gia Maione Prima Foundation.
The toys will be distributed on Friday, Dec. 13, from 4-6 p.m. at Warren Easton High School during a toy giveaway event. There will be refreshments and live music. Event is free and open to the public (any child who attends will receive a free toy).
