Stacey Abrams Endorses Sen. Karen Carter Peterson for Congress

NEW ORLEANSThursday, founder of Fair Fight and former Georgia House Democratic Leader Stacey Abrams endorsed Sen. Karen Carter Peterson for Congress in Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District.

“The people of Louisiana deserve community-minded leaders fighting for working families. That is why I am proud to endorse my dear friend Karen Carter Peterson in her bid to represent Louisiana’s 2nd Congressional District,” Stacey Abrams said. “Sen. Peterson has been a champion for justice in the Louisiana Senate and will continue to be so in the U.S. House fighting for COVID-19 relief, affordable quality health care, economic justice, voting rights and more.”

“Stacey is a gifted leader, a champion for voters, and a fierce advocate for equity and justice. I’m honored to have her support and endorsement,” Sen. Karen Carter Peterson said. “We entered public office around the same time and became close through our shared fight for voting rights and working families. Stacey is such an inspirational leader that when she called on Democrats to help turn the tide in Georgia and win two U.S. Senate races, I laced up my shoes and showed up to knock doors. I know we can bring that same grassroots energy to Louisiana.”

“I’m grateful to have Stacey’s support, and I’m looking forward to working with her to create a better, fairer home for all Louisianans.”

Leader Abrams’ endorsement joins a growing, broad coalition of supporters and organizations that includes the Retail, Wholesale, and Department Store Union, Gov. Howard Dean, EMILY’s List, Higher Heights PAC, and Elect Democratic Women.
