Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans Hosts World Homeless Day Event

NEW ORLEANS – Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans (TASGNO) will host a special event in recognition of World Homeless Day on Friday, Oct. 10, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rosenwald Gymnasium. The event aims to raise awareness about the growing homelessness epidemic in New Orleans while offering direct support and resources to those in need.

TASGNO has partnered with other organizations to provide free access to needed supplies and resources with no charge. At the event, attendees can receive health screenings and checks by Ochsner Health, hot meals and a range of additional upkeep services, including haircuts and makeovers. Additional community partners include Zach Packs Cares, who will be providing 200 free drawstring bags filled with essential products and toiletries, along with Healthcare for the Homeless sharing information and connecting individuals with services and care options.

“World Homeless Day is not only about recognizing the challenges our neighbors face, but also about taking action,” said Donna Paramore, Executive Director of Travelers Aid Society of Greater New Orleans. “By bringing together holistic organizations and resources, we can show compassion in action and remind our community that homelessness is a shared issue we all have a role in solving.”

The event reflects TASGNO’s mission to prevent homelessness and help families and individuals regain self-sufficiency through housing, case management and wraparound services. In 2024 alone, TASGNO served more than 6,000 individuals, distributed thousands of meals and maintained a 98% housing retention rate for those placed in permanent housing.
