Join Second Harvest’s Duck Tagging Party and Help Prepare for a Million-Dollar Duck Derby

NEW ORLEANS – Second Harvest Food Bank is calling on volunteers for its Duck Derby Volunteer Tagging Party on Tuesday, Sept. 10, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Second Harvest’s facility, 700 Edwards Ave. The duck tagging party is a fun and interactive volunteer opportunity to contribute to the success of the annual Duck Derby and take action on Hunger Action Day. Sign up to volunteer at www.no-hunger.org/action.

Volunteers will help tag the 30,000 rubber ducks that will race for a $5,000 grand prize and a chance to win $1 million at the Duck Derby. Each duck is tagged with a unique race number, preparing them for the Duck Derby race on Saturday, September 28 at Big Lake in New Orleans City Park. All proceeds from the race support Second Harvest’s efforts to end hunger in South Louisiana.

“The Duck Derby is one of our most exciting and important fundraisers of the year, offering the community a chance to come together in a fun way to support our hunger relief programs,” said Natalie Jayroe, president and CEO of Second Harvest Food Bank. “With a chance to win $1 million, this year’s event promises to be bigger than ever, and we need volunteers to help us get ready.”

Those interested in volunteering can sign up at //www.no-hunger.org/action. By joining the Duck Tagging Party on Hunger Action Day, volunteers will be a key part of Second Harvest’s mission to provide food for people facing hunger.
