The National WWII Museum Hosts Virtual Armed Forces Day Ceremony

NEW ORLEANS – The National WWII Museum is proud to commemorate Armed Forces Day to honor our nation’s military through a virtual ceremony. The ceremony will also be broadcasted within the Museum in the US Freedom Pavilion: The Boeing Center and the Louisiana Memorial Pavilion.

The program is jointly sponsored by The National WWII Museum and the Mayor’s Military Advisory Committee (MMAC). Remarks will be made by Mayor LaToya Cantrell as well as additional Museum speakers and experts.

MMAC will also present Community Service Awards to members of the military commands who have performed outstanding service to the community over and above their normal military duties. This ceremony is generously sponsored by the Department of Defense.

Following the ceremony, veterans visiting the Museum will have the opportunity to collect a scarf as a part of our Knit Your Bit initiative, with over 10,000 knitters and crocheters participating throughout all 50 states.

Current military members and all veterans are admitted FREE for the day to the Museum galleries. Complimentary admission is for Museum only, and ticket purchase is required for Beyond All Boundaries; and Final Mission. USS Tang Submarine Experience is currently closed to the public.

NOTE: Free admission is for the servicemember only and does not include family or friends.
