DePaul Community Health Centers Has Administered 5,691 COVID-19 Vaccines

NEW ORLEANS – Since early January, DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC) has administered 5,691 COVID-19 vaccines at its New Orleans East health center, which serves as the organization’s primary vaccination site, and at its Carrollton health center. DCHC is administering both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines.

In addition to continuing to vaccinate persons 65 years old and older, DCHC is vaccinating school personnel, pregnant women, persons 55 years old and older who have certain medical conditions, and others based on current Louisiana Department of Health guidelines.

Nationally, only 5% of COVID-19 vaccines have been given to African Americans and other people of color for several reasons, including lack of access and a lack of trust in the vaccines. DCHC works to combat the trust issues by consistently presenting facts to the community about the vaccines and the COVID-19 virus.

Individuals interested in receiving the vaccine may call DCHC at (504) 207-1080. School leaders may call (504) 212-9509 to inquire about group vaccination. For more information, please visit www.DePaulCommunityHealthCenters.org.
