Senator Cassidy Announces $92.3 Million in Disaster Relief

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) will grant Louisiana a total of $92,315,645.27 in relief for Hurricanes Katrina, Laura, Delta and Ida.

“This is big for families in Louisiana who have had a long road to recovery,” said Dr. Cassidy. “Louisiana is still rebuilding, but one thing is certain—we will fully rebuild.”

Communities all across Louisiana will benefit from these grants, including: the City of New Orleans, the Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office, the Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District, the City of Sulphur, Rapides Parish, Calcasieu Parish Police Jury, the Chennault International Airport Authority, the Catahoula Parish Police Jury, St. Helena Parish, the City of Denham Springs, and the Tangipahoa Parish School System.

Grant Awarded Recipient Project Description
$1,327,393.09 City of New Orleans This grant will provide federal funding for the reconciliation of permanent work as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
$4,684,272.80 Orleans Parish Criminal Sheriff’s Office This grant will provide federal funding for public assistance as a result of Hurricane Katrina.
$1,555,518.96 Lake Charles Harbor and Terminal District This grant will provide federal funding for replacement of their damaged transit shed as a result of Hurricane Laura.
$1,769,842.80 City of Sulphur This grant will provide federal funding for emergency protective measures as a result of Hurricane Laura.
$5,879,314.43 Rapides Parish This grant will provide federal funding for the removal of debris as a result of Hurricane Laura.
$69,174,600.20 Calcasieu Parish Police Jury This grant will provide federal funding for the removal of debris as a result of Hurricane Laura.
 $1,764,884.66 Chennault International Airport Authority This grant will provide federal funding for damages to their Fire Water Pumphouse #1 as a result of Hurricane Laura.

Catahoula Parish Police Jury

 

This grant will provide federal funding for permanent repairs to Jug Bend Road as a result of Hurricane Delta.

$1,036,076.15 City of Denham Springs This grant will provide federal funding for the removal of debris as a result of Hurricane Ida.
