NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness (NOHSEP), through NOLA Ready, is proud to host the HERricane WATCH Summer Camp from July 28 through August 1 for girls and young women ages 13 to 20. The program is offered free of charge and will be held in collaboration with the Institute for Diversity and Inclusion in Emergency Management (I-DIEM).
HERricane WATCH introduces young women to careers in emergency management, climate resilience, and environmental justice through an immersive, hands-on learning experience. The program is designed to empower the next generation of female leaders through mentorship, training, and exposure to real-world disaster preparedness and response scenarios.
The camp curriculum, provided by I-DIEM, equips participants with leadership tools, technical knowledge, and insight into public safety careers—all while helping them connect with professionals in the field. NOHSEP and NOLA Ready are proud to facilitate this transformative experience in New Orleans as part of ongoing efforts to build a more equitable and inclusive emergency management landscape.
Registration is limited and interested participants are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Register here or contact Cassandra Roumo at Cassandra.Roumo@nola.gov or (504) 497-5862 to register or for more information.
