City of New Orleans Encourages Participation in Upcoming Community Meetings

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans announced this week’s engagement opportunities for residents to learn about upcoming projects. Residents should visit www.nola.gov/neo to register for the meetings. A copy of the presentation will be provided to all registrants and uploaded to roadwork.nola.gov/projects prior to the meeting.

TONIGHT – AUDUBON GROUP B- FULL RECONSTRUCTION, PATCH MILL OVERLAY, PATCHED CONCRETE AND INCIDENTAL ROADWAY PROJECT IN PERSON PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING

The City of New Orleans and the Department of Public Works, in conjunction with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, will soon begin road repairs on the $15 million Audubon Group B – Full Reconstruction, Patch Mill Overlay, Patched Concrete and Incidental Roadway Project. The project is part of the FEMA-funded Joint Infrastructure Recovery Response (JIRR) program and is expected to last approximately 18 months.

Work will include:

  • Replacing damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
  • Repaving the roadway;
  • Replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
  • Installing Americans with Disabilities-Act-Compliant curb ramps at intersections.

More information about the sequence of construction, schedule, impacts etc. will be provided during a pre-construction community meeting.

THURSDAY – READ BOULEVARD EAST GROUP E – FULL DEPTH RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT IN PERSON PRE-CONSTRUCTION MEETING

The City of New Orleans and the Department of Public Works, in conjunction with the Sewerage and Water Board of New Orleans, will soon begin road repairs as part of the $9.1 million Read Boulevard East Group B – Full Depth Reconstruction Project.

The project is part of the FEMA-funded JIRR program and is expected to last approximately five months.

Work will include:

  • Replacing damaged underground water, sewer and drainage lines;
  • Repaving the roadway;
  • Replacing damaged sidewalks and driveway aprons; and
  • Installing Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps at intersections.

Since May 2018, DPW has completed 99 projects with an estimated value of $260 million. Today, 65 projects are under construction with an estimated value of $602 million.
