City of New Orleans Department of Parks and Parkways Now Accepting of Applications for Tree Planting Grants

NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans Department of Parks and Parkways today announced it is accepting applications for the 2023 Tree Planting Grant. The grant provides $225,000 in funding to nonprofit organizations in Orleans Parish for planting trees on public property in the City of New Orleans.

The 2023 Tree Planting Grant provides funding for nonprofit organizations to help the City reach its goal of restoring and expanding New Orleans urban forest with 40,000 new trees planted by 2030.

The average grant size is $20,000; grants may be larger or smaller. Applicants must:

  • Be a tax-exempt nonprofit organization located in Orleans Parish
  • Agree to install trees in accordance with the Department of Parks & Parkways’ specifications and details

The application deadline is Friday, Sept. 8, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.
