NEW ORLEANS — The City of New Orleans announced that the Mayor’s Office will host the 2025 Public Safety Summit on Saturday, June 28 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the University Medical Center, located at 2000 Canal St. The summit is free and open to the public, and complimentary parking will be available.
“The theme of this year’s summit is ‘Advancing Safety and Justice Through Community Empowerment and Collective Impact’ because we know that making our city safer must be a collective effort,” said Criminal Justice Commissioner Tenisha Stevens. “Our goal is to provide an opportunity for attendees to gain a greater understanding of existing efforts to advance safety and justice in New Orleans, as well as participate in shaping public safety solutions.”
The summit is hosted by the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice Coordination, in partnership with organizations including Total Community Action, Ubuntu Village, University Medical Center, Vera Institute of Justice, Dillard University Center for Racial Justice, Tulane University Violence Prevention Institute, and the Family Center of Hope. The summit is supported by the Safety and Justice Challenge, an initiative of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, which invests in locally driven, equity-focused strategies that build healthier, fairer, and safer communities.
During the summit, participants will engage in interactive workshops with practitioners and advocates and hear directly from young people on their vision for a safer, more equitable New Orleans.
Members of the public are encouraged to register to attend here.
