METAIRIE – The New Orleans Parkinson’s community will hold the 11th annual Louisiana Walks (LA Walks) for Parkinson’s on Saturday, Oct. 26, in Metairie, Louisiana. LA Walks benefits the Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson’s and is a celebration of living well. Over 500 participants and volunteers walk, fundraise and celebrate together. Complete with two handicap-accessible walking routes, a silent auction, a parade of prizes raffle, a kid’s corner, live music by Flip Side Band of NOLA, food and beverages donated by Abita, ACME Oyster House, Bistro Orleans, Copelands of New Orleans, Hooter’s. Raising Cane’s and many more. The event also includes local resources for people with Parkinson’s, this is an event not to miss.
Annually, the Davis Phinney Foundation reaches hundreds of thousands of people affected by Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s is the fastest-growing neurodegenerative disease in the world. More than 90,000 people are annually diagnosed with Parkinson’s in the US. Events like LA Walks for Parkinson’s help raise awareness about Parkinson’s and provide critical resources people need to live well every day.
