Porgy’s Seafood Market Announces More Seafood Classes

NEW ORLEANSPorgy’s seafood classes are back for a second semester! Their classes are educational and fun for locals and visitors alike to learn everything from knife work to preparing raw dishes with a variety of seafood.

Classes are from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. and tickets (book here) include beer, wine and class-related snacks.

Join Porgy’s with special guest, Joe Briand, to take a journey through the traditions of drinking red wine with fish and which wines to look for.

Course 1 (Thursday 8/8): Oysters 101: Shucking, Tasting & Dressing

Join for discussions about the Gulf Coast and oyster farms with the local nonprofit Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana (CRCL) followed by learning how to shuck various Gulf oysters and the sauces to accompany them.

Course 2 (Tuesday 8/13): Raw Bar Basics: Slicing, Chopping, Dressing

Start at the fish case to learn how to choose the right fish and explore the many ways to enjoy raw fish creations at home. This class will demonstrate the proper techniques and tools for slicing raw fish.

Course 3(Thursday 8/15): Lady Mongers Night

Tosha & Caitlin host a night of 90’s girl power while teaching fileting, cooking techniques & secret Lady Monger tricks that are sure to impress!

Course 4 (Tuesday 8/20): Red Wine & Fish with Joe Briand
