Cook with Us! A New K-12 Cooking Program with Local Chefs

NEW ORLEANS – The Hermann-Grima + Gallier Historic Houses announced a new cooking program for kids K-12 that will feature local chefs.

On Monday, March 22, the program will feature Chef Linda Green the Ya-Ka-Mein Lady. Chef Linda is internationally known as the winner of Food Network’s “Chopped: Pride of New Orleans” and was featured on Anthony Bourdain’s “No Reservations.” She has been featured in several publications such as CNN, BBC, Travel Channel, The New York Times, Huffington Post, Thrillist, and many more. Join us for a cooking demo and discussion of her journey to chef stardom.

The virtual event will be from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and you can register here.

On Monday, April 12, also from 5:30-6:30 p.m., the cooking program will host Chef Syrena Johnson. The program welcomes native New Orleanian, Chef Syrena Johnson. Chef Johnson was 2011’s First John Besh Chefsmove! Scholarship recipient, 2012’s French Culinary Institute graduate and Dean’s list recipient, a 2014 MAD Academy grant recipient, and “Chopped” champion. She is a graduate of Liberty Kitchen’s culinary program and now one of their Chef Instructors. She believes strongly in giving children opportunities to succeed through the culinary arts and is a frequent motivational speaker. Join us for a cooking demo and discussion on her illustrious path to renowned chef.
