Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans, LCMC Health to Provide 300 Thanksgiving Meals to Local Families

NEW ORLEANSCatholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans and LCMC Health are joining forces this holiday season to provide 300 Thanksgiving meals to local families in need. LCMC Health is donating resources and mobilizing over 20 volunteers to help Catholic Charities assemble food packages, each containing enough supplies to feed a family of four. The meal kits will include nonperishable food items and a $25 gift card to Rouses Markets, allowing families to purchase a fresh turkey or ham. This collaborative effort aims to bring some holiday cheer to those facing food insecurity during the Thanksgiving season.

The organizations hosted a volunteer day on Nov. 15 to package food supplies to be distributed to Catholic Charities clients residing in the eight civil parishes of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.

“One in five households in the Greater New Orleans area is at risk of hunger,” said Greg Feirn, CEO of LCMC Health. “With our shared mission to address food insecurity, Thanksgiving presents an opportunity for LCMC Health and Catholic Charities to join forces and create an even larger impact to help our community’s most vulnerable residents.”

“Hunger is a constant need in our region and many families struggle to put food on the table on any given day,” said Sister Marjorie Hebert, president and CEO of Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans. “The holidays are a sacred time for families to come together around the dinner table and create memories. We are forever grateful to LCMC Health for this generous donation that will enable hundreds of families to enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal this year.”
