West Bank Hispanic Heritage Festival to Feature Community Health Event

NEW ORLEANS – The West Bank Hispanic Heritage Festival will feature a free community health event this weekend as part of its inaugural event on Saturday, Oct. 12.  The family-friendly celebration, which is free and open to the public, will be held on the Great Lawn of the University of Holy Cross in Algiers and promises a full day of cultural music, entertainment, food and health services in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month.

Hosted by the University of Holy Cross and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Louisiana, the festival aims to unite the community in a vibrant, inclusive environment. The event will feature live performances showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Hispanic communities, along with food from local vendors and food trucks, and unique handmade accessories, crafts, and home decor vendors. Festivalgoers can experience a fun and festive atmosphere while celebrating the unique traditions of Hispanic culture.

In addition to entertainment, the festival will offer a community health event, providing attendees with access to free health care services:

  • Free dental checkups for adults and children from Dr. Cross and his team at ExcelTH Family dental
  • Free dental advice with Dr. Ferguson of Second Line Family Dental
  • Orthodontic appointments and information for orthodontic work provided by Dr. Jones
  • Health checkups with Inclusive Care
  • CVS will provide free flu and COVID-19 vaccines
  • Information about mental health services provided by the VA
  • Beignet Fest Sensory Activation Vehicle will also be on-site, offering a calming space for those who may need a break from the crowds.
