Tulane Student Film Festival Announces Official Selection of Films for 2025 Festival

NEW ORLEANS — The Tulane Student Film Festival is proud to announce the official selection of films for the 2025 event. Celebrating student creativity, storytelling, and cinematic innovation, this year’s lineup features a diverse range of genres, including horror, comedy, documentary, experimental films, and more. All of the featured films were carefully selected from submissions created by Tulane’s talented filmmaking community.

Through the hard work of students in the SLAM 3914 “Film Festivals” course taught by Jolene Pinder, the festival will take place on Wednesday, April 23, at McAlister Auditorium. There will be a first screening at 5:00 PM and a second screening at 7:15 PM featuring different films. This annual event provides a platform for all students involved in creating the selected films to showcase their talents and display their work on a big screen. With 43 film submissions received, the curation team faced difficult decisions to craft a lineup of 19 films that reflect the creative spirit of Tulane’s film community. After reviewing the impressive roster of submissions, the curation committee has crafted an exciting program that reflects the creative spirit of Tulane’s film community.

I hope I’m somewhere laughing.
Cameron Brown

Creator of I hope I’m Somewhere Laughing, Cameron states, “I made a film about childhood, moving on, and growing up in the best way I could’ve…Making this film was such a cathartic touching experience. I’m so grateful for the festival for allowing it to be screened to hundreds of people! The Tulane student film festival makes me feel celebrated and prideful as a student filmmaker, there’s no event here quite like it.”.

This event would not have been possible without the support of Tulane’s Strategy, Leadership, and Analytics Minor (SLAM). Additionally, the Silverstein Fund’s sponsorship provided vital resources to help bring this initiative to life.

The festival will include film screenings, Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and an award ceremony. We will also be providing food from vendors such as Canes, Bub’s, and La Cocinita, along with exciting prizes. Admission is completely free and open to the public.
