NEW ORLEANS – In a world that often feels frayed at the edges, Tiny Beautiful Things arrives like a handwritten letter from an old friend—honest, intimate, and deeply healing. This bold and heart-forward stage adaptation of Cheryl Strayed’s beloved book is now playing at the Marquette Theater on the Loyola campus through May 25, 2025.
Critics and audiences alike have hailed the show as “a theater experience I will never forget” and “it’s the tiny beautiful things of the play’s title that provide just enough hope to keep moving forward, even in the darkest times.” Adapted for the stage by Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and based on Strayed’s time as the anonymous advice columnist “Sugar,” Tiny Beautiful Things is a tapestry of letters from seekers of all kinds—and Sugar’s fearless, compassionate replies. What unfolds is a riveting and deeply moving evening of theatre sharing a portrait of resilience, grief, love, and forgiveness.
The production features original music by Academy Award Winner® Donald Markowitz featuring Grammy Nominated Preservation Hall trumpet player Branden Lewis.
Whether you’ve read the book or seen the television show, or are new to the story, Tiny Beautiful Things is an unforgettable theatrical journey that will crack your heart open—and maybe even help it heal.
Tickets are available now at www.crescentcitystage.com. The production will continue through May 25, 2025 with shows Thursday through Saturday evenings at 7:30pm and matinees on Sundays at 2:30pm.
