NEW ORLEANS – The National WWII Museum, in partnership with the Mayor’s Military Advisory Committee, will host an Armed Forces Day Commemoration Ceremony on Saturday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. to honor all past and present members of the Armed Forces. Remarks will be made by Mayor LaToya Cantrell as well as Museum speakers and experts.
During this program, the Mayor’s Military Advisory Committee will present Community Service Awards to members of the military commands who have performed outstanding service to the community over and above their normal military duties.
Veterans visiting the Museum also have the opportunity to collect a scarf as a part of our Knit Your Bit initiative, with more than 10,000 knitters and crocheters participating throughout all 50 states. Scarves will be available from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
All veterans are admitted FREE for the day to the Museum galleries. Complimentary admission is for the Museum only; ticket purchase is required for Beyond All Boundaries and Final Mission: USS Tang Submarine Experience ($7 each). Through the Blue Star Museums Network Program, active-duty service members and up to five family members receive free Museum admission.
