NEW ORLEANS – Join sculptor and educator John Barnes on Saturday, Dec. 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. to learn about the art and architectural traditions of the South as practiced by P.5 artist, Beverly Buchanan. In this Artist Workshop, participants will build their own personal “shacks” using a variety of mixed and paper media.
Beverly Buchanan’s work centers on the character of the dwellings typical of the vernacular architecture of the South, of which she was a native, having been born and raised in the Carolinas. She was drawn to the underlying symbolism of strength and perseverance associated with the “shacks” that she painted and sculpted.
This Artist Workshop includes a guided tour of P.5:
Yesterday We Said Tomorrow.
Advanced registration and masks are required. All materials are included in the registration fee.
