NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Recreation Development (NORD) Commission today announced the 12th annual family-friendly Easter celebrations, which will take place on Saturday, April 12, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the following locations across the city.
- Joe W. Brown Park – 5601 Read Blvd. (New Orleans East)
- Lafitte Greenway – 1971 St. Louis St. (Mid-City)
- Morris F.X. Jeff, Sr. Park – 2529 General Meyer Ave. (Westbank)
“Our annual Easter celebrations are all about bringing families and neighbors together for a day of fun, laughter, and community spirit,” said NORD Commission CEO Larry Barabino Jr. “Through partnerships with the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office (OPSO) and the Lafitte Greenway Partnership, we’re making sure every child can enjoy an exciting day filled with laughter, games, and special memories. We invite all of New Orleans to come out and celebrate with us.”
Children of all ages are invited to bring their baskets for the annual Easter egg hunt. Eggs will be filled with candy and prizes, with special golden eggs containing exclusive treats. Attendees can enjoy face painting, spacewalks, field games, and free refreshments. Additionally, the OPSO is partnering with NORD Commission to bring extra excitement to the New Orleans East celebration at Joe W. Brown Park.
“The OPSO is thrilled to partner with NORD Commission to bring Easter joy to the families of New Orleans East at Joe W. Brown Park through this exciting community event,” said Sheriff Susan Hutson. “This is more than a celebration; it’s an opportunity for us to connect with our community and show the heart within our department. We are happy to include our Mounted Unit who will make a special appearance, free haircuts and crown braids for kids, face painting, egg decorating, delicious food, and special photos with Detective Easter Bunny. There will be something for everyone. It’s important to us that families feel supported, celebrated, and safe. This event is one way that we are making that happen.”
NORD Commission is also grateful for the support of the Lafitte Greenway Partnership, which has helped make the Mid-City celebration possible.
“The Lafitte Greenway Partnership is thrilled to be a part of NORD Commission’s Easter Eggstravaganza, to bring a wonderful event to children and families of New Orleans,” said Alexis Marceaux, Lafitte Greenway’s Director of Community Programming. “We’ll be there with arts and crafts for kids, free popcorn and sodas, and Greenway maps and merchandise.”
