New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute’s Cooking for a Cause Sept. 18th

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) has announced the date for its 2024 signature Cooking for a Cause fundraising event – Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. at NOCHI, 725 Howard Ave. This year will mark five years of NOCHI’s signature Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Arts Certificate programs and 225 NOCHI graduates working in restaurants and bakeries, opening and operating successful businesses across Greater New Orleans, and sharing New Orleans’ culture and hospitality far and wide.

Hancock Whitney Bank will serve as the 2024 presenting sponsor for the two-week, online silent auction that features one-of-a-kind curated experiences and culminates with a soirée overlooking the city. Proceeds benefit NOCHI’s flagship Culinary and Baking & Pastry Certificate Programs and scholarship fund for students seeking a formal culinary education and career in the hospitality industry.

“We are grateful to Hancock Whitney Bank for their continued support of NOCHI and Cooking for a Cause,” said Gerald Duhon, NOCHI executive director. “Hancock Whitney is a valued partner who understands the significance of NOCHI’s work in the culinary and hospitality industry. Their support ensures that NOCHI’s certificate programs remain affordable and accessible for current and future students who aspire to have formal culinary training and a career in hospitality.”

“Hospitality is at the heart of New Orleans’ culture and a critical industry that fuels our region’s economy,” said Liz Hefler, Greater New Orleans Regional president of Hancock Whitney Bank. “The students who train at NOCHI will influence the future of food and hospitality in New Orleans and beyond. Hancock Whitney is proud to support NOCHI, its students, and an evening that celebrates food, hospitality, and experiences that are uniquely New Orleans.”

2024 Chairwomen, Elizabeth A. Boh and Katherine Eshleman Morales, are planning the highly anticipated annual event that will include live music, libations, and delectable cuisine prepared by NOCHI alumni chefs and special guest chefs who epitomize New Orleans’ world-class cuisine. The online auction will feature dozens of priceless, one-of-a-kind experiences including private cooking and mixology classes, dinner parties, overnight staycations, and much more, all hosted by favorite names in hospitality.
