Louisiana Children’s Museum Hosts Kindergarten Kickoff August 4th

NEW ORLEANS — Event offers kids a chance to practice expected skills, helps parents prepare, celebrate.

WHO:             Louisiana Children’s Museum

WHAT:             Kindergarten Kickoff is geared towards first-time students entering Kindergarten and features facilitated activities including cutting with scissors, placing folders in backpacks, balancing lunch trays and writing names. Presentations include those by kindergarten teachers and several story times. A school bus will be available onsite for children to have a trial run and learn about bus safety.

WHY:               The goals of the event are to allay anxiety of parents and caregivers as it relates to their children starting “big school,” provide parents and children a chance to celebrate the milestone and allow children to practice skills expected in their new grade.
