Longue Vue Hosts Family Equality Day

NEW ORLEANS – Longue Vue’s 9th Annual Family Equality Day will take place Sunday, June 9, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Family Equality Day is a FREE Longue Vue Pride event that honors and recognizes families of all shapes, sizes and identities, with a special focus on the LGBTQ+ community. This outdoor event is fun for all ages, complete with story time, dance performances, fan decorating, and a community resource fair. The day culminates in a children’s parade across Longue Vue’s beautiful 8-acre garden space.

“Family Equality Day is our largest event of the year, and I think that speaks to the needs of our community,” said Deputy Director Jen Sharp. “There are many LGBTQ+ families in our city that are searching for resources and a way to connect with other families like them. Longue Vue’s Family Equality Day offers a safe space for LGBTQ+ families and youth to gather those resources while celebrating Pride alongside like-minded individuals. It’s really something special!”

The resource fair will feature a variety of local community partners, non-profits and businesses offering free activities and support to attendees. While the event is free, preregistration is required. Interested parties can register for the event on Longue Vue’s website here . Organizations interested in sponsorship or becoming a community partner can contact Longue Vue’s Deputy Director Jen Sharp.
