Historic New Orleans Collection Hosts Third Annual Chess Fest

NEW ORLEANS – Historic New Orleans Collection’s third annual Chess Fest offers a hands-on celebration of chess for all ages and skill levels. Starting with a Beginner’s Crash Course at 10 a.m., the event is perfect for newcomers looking to learn the basics, while experienced players can enjoy the fast-paced action of the five-minute Blitz Chess Tournament in the afternoon. Families can take part in the Chess Arts and Crafts and test their strategy in the Checkmate Puzzle Competition. A highlight of the day will be the thrilling showdown at 11 a.m., where Louisiana and Mississippi’s high school champions face-off on a life-size human chessboard. The festival wraps up with chess films to inspire participants and celebrate the game. Whether you’re a seasoned player or just curious about the game, Chess Fest has something for everyone, promoting learning, creativity and community in a fun, engaging way.
