NEW ORLEANS – In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15 – Oct. 15), Felipe’s Taqueria announced its eighth annual Fiesta Fest, set to take place on Friday, Sept. 20, at the restaurant’s Mid-City location. This year’s festivities will not only highlight the delicious cuisine, music, rhythms and artistry of Latine culture, but also 25 percent of total event proceeds will be donated to Puentes, an organization dedicated to providing tools and opportunities for local Latine students to empower themselves through leadership, development, and education.
“New Orleans has a long history of influence and cultural exchange with Latin America, particularly following Hurricane Katrina, and at Felipe’s Taqueria, we want to continue to honor, show respect, and celebrate that relationship,” said Pike Howard, owner of Felipe’s Taqueria. “It is not lost upon our Company the influence and role Latin Americans have played in our brand. This year, we are especially proud to partner with Puentes to support the new generations of Latine members who call New Orleans home.”
“At Puentes we believe that a vibrant Latine voice and presence make our beloved city a better place,” said Angela Ramirez, executive director of Puentes. “We are thrilled to have businesses like Felipe’s Taqueria, which intentionally recognize and celebrate the contributions of Latin American cultures to this city. And even though the services we provide are different, I believe we have one common goal which is to build connections between cultures to support access to opportunity.”
In addition to the festivities, Felipe’s will offer a couple of exclusive culinary specials to commemorate National Hispanic Heritage Month:
- On Sunday, Sept. 15, Felipe’s will treat guests to one free taco with any purchase in honor of Mexican and Central American Independence Days and the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.
- Throughout Hispanic Heritage Month, guests can enjoy the return of Felipe’s scratch-made pork tamales, served with crema and pico.
Fiesta Fest will take place Friday, Sept. 20, from 4 to 9 p.m. at the Mid-City location at 411-1 N Carrollton Ave. Attendees can look forward to an exciting entertainment lineup, including the 20-piece band La Tran-K Band and a performance from Ballet Folklorico Viva Mi Tierra.
