NEW ORLEANS – The Algiers Economic Development Foundation has announced the return of its annual Algiers Holiday Bonfire & Concert presented by OnPath Federal Credit Union on Dec. 7 on the Algiers batture, 200 Morgan St., from 4:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.
This year’s event features a true Louisiana line up, with Sunpie Barnes and the Louisiana Sunspots headlining. Opening acts include the Shades of Praise Interracial Choir and New Orleans Military and Maritime Academy Band. DJ Jazzy Mizzle will kick off the evening and serve as the event’s host. Dancers from Ballerinas of the Bayou will perform, and will offer an interactive chance for children in the audience to dance along with them.
The event will feature Algiers businesses and talent, including musicians, food vendors, artists and, of course, a custom-built, 30’ ft. bonfire designed by the local artists of NOLA Burners. This year’s bonfire will feature an art market hosted by StayLocal and Bounyful Market, a farmer’s market that began serving the Algiers community in 2020. There’s even an expected visit from Santa on the tug boat Mardi Gras provided by Crescent Towing & Fleeting.
“The Algiers Bonfire & Concert is Algiers’ biggest night of the year,” said Algiers Economic Development Foundation Executive Director Kelsey Foster. “We’re proud to highlight the incredible talent and tight-knit community that makes Algiers such a wonderful place to call home.”
Beer and cocktails will be provided in partnership with Southern Eagle Distributing. This year’s event is presented by OnPath Federal Credit Union. Sponsors include the Algiers Development District, K. Allen Consulting, COS Construction, and the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.
