Operation Spark Offering Free Virtual Summer Teaching Training Intensive for Teachers Who Want to Learn Coding

NEW ORLEANS – Operation Spark, a non-profit tech bootcamp dedicated to changing lives by advancing technology skills for today’s workplace, is offering Louisiana middle and high school teachers the opportunity to learn how to code at its Summer Teacher Training Intensive, held virtually. Scholarships are available for teachers to attend the 8-week program.

To register for the program, interested candidates must participate in a Virtual Information Session by May 14 prior to enrollment, held twice on Mondays. To begin the registration process, email the Director of High School Programs at mayukh@operationspark.org.
The two-week Prep Program is the first phase of the intensive program, held Monday through Thursday 1-4 pm or 6-9 pm. Prep will be from May 24 to June 3.
Operation Spark’s Bootcamp is the next six-week phase, held Monday through Thursday from  1-4 pm or  6-9 pm from June 21-July 29.
“With the completion of this program comes many opportunities for Louisiana teachers,” said Operation Spark Director of High School Programs, Mayukh Raychaudhuri.  “These certifications not only qualify you for a position as a Computer Science teacher, but they can open many doors for teachers looking to expand their depth and breadth as an educator.”
Upon graduation, teachers will hold an Advanced Industry-Based Credential (IBC) in Fundamentals of JavaScript, Functional Programming, and Web Development.

Teachers receiving scholarships will have tuition fully waived for Prep and Bootcamp.
