NEW ORLEANS — Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair (GNOSEF) will be hosting the final of two teacher workshops on Saturday, Oct. 5 from 9-11 a.m. at the STEM Library Lab in Metairie.
Teachers are invited and strongly encouraged to attend. Priority is given to teachers from Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes. To ensure that you will have a spot in the Professional Development workshops, we are requiring a $20 deposit fee. Teachers who attended the August workshop are exempt from paying the October deposit.
The annual workshops are designed to help prepare teachers for the 69th Annual Greater New Orleans Science and Engineering Fair to be held February 17-24, 2025 at Tulane University’s Lavin-Bernick Center. Attendees will be awarded a certificate after the two-hour training session, which can be submitted to their school district for requesting CLU (Continuing Learning Unit) credits. There will also be brief presentations on the timeline for participating in the GNOSEF and an overview of the more than $60,000 in awards, prizes, and grants for students, teachers, and schools.
Stipend: Each teacher will receive a $50 stipend upon completion of the 2-hour workshop.
To receive the stipend and the refund of the deposit, teachers must be present for the full time of the workshop.
Presentations by experienced teachers will address finding opportunities and overcoming obstacles while providing important information needed to participate in the GNOSEF.
The October 5th workshop will focus on the paperwork needed for each participant. Teachers will practice filling out sample ISEF forms including the research plan.
