METAIRIE – Northwestern Mutual is celebrating the outstanding volunteerism of its financial professionals through its annual Community Service Awards (CSA) program. This year, 16 financial advisors and representatives were recognized for their transformational impact on the communities they serve, totaling $295,000 in grants to nonprofits nationwide. Local Metairie, Louisiana, resident David Capo, a financial representative at Northwestern Mutual – Metairie, has been named a 2024 Community Service Award winner, receiving a $15,000 grant for Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans. This is the fourth time David will be receiving the Northwestern Mutual Community Service Award, as he was also recognized in 2006, 2011 and 2016.
“At Northwestern Mutual, we believe in putting people first. This value is highlighted through our dedicated financial advisors who are not only building better tomorrows for their clients, but also for their communities,” said Steve Radke, president of the Northwestern Mutual Foundation. “Through their philanthropic work, our advisors are donating their time and talents to help local nonprofit organizations.”
Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans is dedicated to supporting students by inspiring them as entrepreneurs and giving them the opportunity to learn financial literacy and other life skills that often are not taught in school. Capo has volunteered for this organization for the past 30 years, driven by his own experience with afterschool programs as a student in the 1970s. His role as a volunteer is to serve as a mentor for students while also teaching important skills like money management and business communications.
“Throughout my time as a volunteer at Junior Achievement of Greater New Orleans, I’ve been driven by my students and their personal stories. Each student inspires me to learn something new and to help others,” said Capo. “I focus on creating a classroom where learning is a fun and unforgettable experience. This grant from Northwestern Mutual’s Community Service Awards program will help the organization continue to thrive as a vital part of the New Orleans community.”
Now in its 29th year, Northwestern Mutual, through its Foundation and Community Service Awards program, has donated nearly $7 million to nonprofits supported by financial professionals in their communities across the country.
