NEW ORLEANS — Nouvelle Orleans celebrates all things French and Bastille Day is no exception. So, in 2015 when Jane Cooper and Bob Heaps along with partners Roy and Carla Arriola, opened a unique neighborhood wine and spirits store, Bastille Day was the day that they launched. Grande Krewe is proud to be female and minority-owned, with a unique retail and event space in the Faubourg Marigny. The store is celebrating its 6th Anniversary on July 13th and 14th with two days of festivities.
The Anniversary celebration is designed around champagne, a universal symbol of joie de vivre. All events are free, open to the public and held at Grande Krewe, 2305 Decatur Street. On Tuesday, July 13th the Merry Antoinettes will be serving cold champagne and fried chicken. On July 14th it’s French red and white wines with the Kevin Gullage trio performing. Each evening’s celebration starts at 5:30 pm and concludes at 8 pm.
“Coming to Grande Krewe is an experience that locals and tourists treasure. It’s all things New Orleans and we look forward to celebrating this major business milestone during Bastille Day festivities,” said Jane Cooper, owner of Grande Krewe.
Grande Krewe Fine Wine and Spirits offers 120 kinds of sparkling bubbles, wines from all over the world and a full array of spirits in a one hundred-year-old warehouse in the Faubourg Marigny. Bourbon aficionados can also enjoy unique barrel selections and the shop boasts a grand piano and Pearl and Deuce, the wine store dogs.
The Merry Antoinettes are cheeky and glamorous revelers of Marie Antoinette’s court who have supported Grande Krewe since its inception. Their drink of choice is always champagne.
Kevin Gullage is a NOCAA grad and a national blues recording artist.
