NEW ORLEANS – Big Easy Spirits Company (BESCO) has officially launched its flagship product, Big Easy Whiskey, in New Orleans. This 5-year-old straight whiskey is crafted from a Bourbon mash and infused with a blend of botanicals and fruits to enhance the whiskey’s natural rich flavor, according to the company.
Big Easy Whiskey is described as an approachable spirit, ideal for sipping straight over ice or as a base for cocktails. Its versatility appeals to whiskey drinkers at any level of experience, while adding depth and complexity to classic cocktail recipes.
“Big Easy Whiskey brings the essence of New Orleans to the bottle,” said Kieran Walsh, COO and Master Blender of BESCO. “Our goal was to capture the city’s unique flavor, with a spirit that reflects its laid-back charm and sophisticated edge.”
Big Easy Whiskey is produced using 100 percent American whiskey distilled in Kentucky and Indiana, with a traditional bourbon mash bill of 81 percent corn, 15 percent rye, and 4 percent barley. The whiskey is aged for five years in used bourbon barrels to achieve a smoother taste with less influence from new wood. The final product is a rich, round American whiskey infused with over two dozen herbs, spices, and fruits chosen to complement its flavor profile.
Tasting notes for Big Easy Whiskey include the familiar toasty flavor of American whiskey, complemented by baking spices like vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice, along with herbal notes of cedar and lemon balm.
BESCO, founded by New Orleans natives and distilled spirits veterans, aims to offer a high-end spirit that is neither kitschy nor pretentious. The company says it is committed to celebrating New Orleans’ unique spirit through its products.
