NEW ORLEANS – The Andre’ Cailloux Center is thrilled to announce Finding Your Voice, a transformative Three-Week Summer Art and Civic Power Intensive explicitly designed for youth ages 11-15 and 16-19. This exciting program will run from July 8 – 26, offering young performers unique opportunities to develop their skills in performance theatre, musical theatre, and comedy sketch & improv. Join the Theatre and Civic Power Youth Intensive. Over three transformative weeks, participants will harness the power of performance to amplify their voices and drive social change.
Program Overview:
Participants will embark on a journey of self-discovery and creative play, focusing on the fundamentals of acting through performance theatre, which will include intensive, culturally competent training in character building, emotional expression, and vocal techniques. The Musical Theatre element will emphasize vocal training and integrating storytelling with music. Students will learn techniques to relax, breathe, and maximize their vocal potential, bringing songs to life with emotion and authenticity. Young performers will learn to craft sketches, develop comedic timing, and create memorable characters during the Comedy Sketch and Improv lessons. Through hands-on activities and improvisation exercises, young performers will discover how to turn their funny ideas into laugh-out-loud performances.
“Our program, Finding Your Voice: Theatre Art + Civic Power Youth Intensive, empowers individuals through theatre,” said Program Director Shanda Quintal. “We believe by exploring personal and collective narratives, our young performers will develop a stronger sense of identity and community.
