The New Orleans JCC Announces The Fall 2024 Jewish Cultural Arts Series

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Jewish Community Center (JCC) announced Fall 2024 lineup for its Jewish Cultural Arts Series presented by Cathy and Morris Bart. This series celebrates Jewish authors, music, film and art and promotes Jewish heritage to the greater New Orleans community.

The Cathy and Morris Bart Jewish Cultural Arts Series will kick off on Thursday, Aug. 15, with a screening of Lex Gillespie’s documentary The CATSKILLS. The film chronicles the storied mountain getaway north of New York City that served as a refuge for Jewish immigrants fleeing poverty and a lavish playground for affluent Jewish families. Attendees can enjoy this film-and-fork experience featuring food by New Orleans JCC Chef Jeff McLennan.

The series continues each month with events featuring food from cookbook author Susan Simon, a photography exhibit and lecture by Israeli photojournalist Erez Kaganovitz, a book discussion with highly acclaimed Rabbi Dr. Raphael Zarum, Dean of the London School of Jewish Studies, a screening from filmmaker Kamal Hachkar, and a performance by musical duo Neta Elkayam, and Amit Haï Cohen.

“Providing quality experiences in a Jewish environment where all can learn and grow is central to our mission. Thanks to the generosity of Cathy and Morris Bart, we can bring Jewish thought leaders, authors, artists, and their work to our community to experience Jewish culture and peoplehood. You may know the JCC for its state-of-the-art fitness center and aquatics complex, award-winning summer camps, and cherished early childhood center. I encourage you to attend an event this fall to be inspired, entertained, and feel at home,” stated Rachel Zoller, the New Orleans JCC Chief Program Officer.

The Fall 2024 Cathy and Morris Bart Jewish Cultural Arts Series will continue through December 2024, with all events taking place at the New Orleans JCC Uptown campus. The events featured are free and open to the public. For more information on this series and the individual events, please visit nojcc.org/culturalarts.
