The Garden District Bookshop Upcoming Events: Mike Nabors, Janie Molster, and Matt Haines

JANUARY 4 | THE BREES WAY SIGNING WITH MIKE NABORS | 4:00 – 6:00 P.M.

Author Mike Nabors will be at The Garden District Book Shop on Jan. 4 at 6:00 p.m. to sign copies of his latest work, “The Brees Way: The Best of my Hundreds of Interviews with #9, Complemented with Perspective from Those Who Know Him Best.” In the book, Nabors delves into Drew’s career in a unique fashion going behind the scenes to learn how he approached the game and ultimately left his legendary legacy.

Nabors interviewed Brees more than any media member in his Hall of Fame career. Together, they conducted nearly 300 one-on-one interviews following every game for 14 seasons which also included co-hosting several in-depth shows. Books are available for purchase at The Garden District Book Shop.

JANUARY 13 | HOUSE DRESSING | 6:00 P.M.

The Garden District Book Shop is thrilled to announce an evening celebrating the release of acclaimed Southern designer Janie Molster’s “House Dressing,” will be held on Jan. 13 at 6:00 p.m.  “House Dressing” is Molster’s lively collection of vibrant interiors and insightful advice for colorful living. Through the book, Molster gives a master class in working with color, pattern, and texture to make spaces that are in turn bold, serene, glamorous, and comfortable, but always personal.

The event will kick off at 6:00 p.m. with a welcome reception featuring wine and light bites. Molster will then share insights into her work with guests, lead a Q&A and then personalize books.

Tickets are available on Eventbrite for $55 and include a copy of House Dressing (retail price $50.)

JANUARY 15 | THE BIG BOOK OF KING CAKE | 11:00 A.M.

The Garden District Book Shop will host an event celebrating the release of Matt Haines’ “The Big Book of King Cake” on Jan. 15 at 11:00 a.m.. The book is a passion project for Haines that can be traced back to the 2017 Mardi Gras season. “The Big Book of King Cake” is for anyone who loves food, history, sweets, culture, and of course, New Orleans. From the traditional cakes generations of New Orleanians have loved, to the unconventional creations that break all the rules, this book is your guide to the Crescent City’s favorite baked good.

The event is open to the public and will kick off at 11:00 a.m. There will be samples of king cake provided by some of the bakers featured in the book onsite for guests to enjoy. Haines and photographer Randy Krause Schmidt will both be in attendance to discuss the inspiration behind the book and their creative process. Books will be available for purchase at The Garden District Book Shop.

All city-mandated COVID safety protocols will be in place for in-person events.
