LOVE in The Garden Returns to NOMA This November with Expanded Celebration

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) hosts LOVE in the Garden Presented by Frischhertz on Friday, Nov. 7.

The museum’s Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden is a popular event in the city’s fall calendar, raising funds for NOMA’s world-class exhibitions, celebrated collection of art, educational initiatives, and dynamic programming.

“LOVE in the Garden offers the opportunity to come together to celebrate one of the city’s most important cultural destinations: NOMA’s Besthoff Sculpture Garden,” said Susan M. Taylor, The Montine McDaniel Freeman director of NOMA. “By honoring the Frischhertz family as chairs of this year’s event, we celebrate their longstanding history as generous benefactors to NOMA. We are pleased to have their support for LOVE in the Garden as we relaunch one of the museum’s beloved traditions.”

After a pause last year—for the Visionaries Gala and Garden Party marking 20 years of the Besthoff Sculpture Garden—the museum presents LOVE in the Garden in 2025 with an expanded celebration and at a cooler time of the year. The event has traditionally been held in September.

For 2025, Frischhertz joins as presenting sponsor of LOVE in the Garden, inspiring this year’s theme: “Light up the Night.” Honorary chairs for the event are Ellen and Stephen Frischhertz, Janet and Jimmy Frischhertz, and Lori and Kevin Frischhertz.

“Frischhertz Electric shares a long history with NOMA, and we are thrilled to ‘light up the night’ for LOVE in the Garden,” said Kevin Frischhertz, president of Frischhertz Electric.

The evening kicks off with an intimate patron party, 7–8 p.m., followed by a festive garden party, 8–11 p.m.

Entertainment for the evening includes live music from New Orleans–based Yacht Rockers Where Y’acht, and visitors will be able to sample cuisine from dozens of restaurants across the city.

The annual LOVE Cocktail Challenge, sponsored by the Sazerac Company, features love-inspired beverages by some of the city’s most creative bartending talents. Two prizes will be awarded by a panel of judges and by audience vote. Recent winners include Zen Castro and Erika Flowers. Participants in this year’s challenge will be announced soon.

NOMA’s Besthoff Sculpture Garden, which features 100 works of art across 12 acres surrounding the museum, is consistently named one of the top locations of its kind in the country. LOVE in the Garden takes its name from Robert Indiana’s iconic sculpture LOVE (red outside violet inside), which has been installed in the garden since its doors opened in 2003.

“NOMA is thrilled to welcome visitors back to LOVE in the Garden,” said Taylor Pospisil, 2025 chair of the NOMA Volunteer Committee, which hosts events in support of the museum’s mission. “We hope this evening inspires visitors to return to the museum and sculpture garden again and again.”
